Biorefinery Pilot Plant Inauguration

By

update · Projects

In June 2017, the Biorefinery plant for the fractionation of lignocellulosic and aquatic biomass was inaugurated in the Food Research Department of the Faculty of Chemistry Sciences at the Autonomous University of Coahuila in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico.

Specifically, this pilot plant has a 15 L hydrothermal reactor (steam explosion), and operates in batch mode under subcritical water conditions. It is important to mention that all the conceptual, basic and detailed engineering was designed by Biorefinery Group.

This pilot plant, in addition to serving as a national reference for biomass processing to search for strategies in scale-up engineering, serves other academic institutes, research centers and industry.

Biorefinery Group would like to thank the financial support to the Mexican Science and Technology Council (CONACYT, Mexico) for the infrastructure project — INFR201601 (Ref. 269461).
